Stains are a sign of guilt.

If you climb the stairs it means the need to move up in life, either at a personal or professional level. It suggests that although it takes a lot of effort, you ultimately achieve your reward. The biblical story of Jacob’s ladder symbolizes communication between this world and the spiritual. In psychological terms, it would be the means of contact between your true self and your ego. Any staircase, but especially a marbled one, represents a state of joy and achievement in life.
